Salman Khurshid's controversial statement (Social media)

National News: After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India has intensified its diplomatic strategy to expose Pakistan at the international level. Under this, the central government has sent an all-party delegation of 51 leaders to various countries, who are clarifying India's position on global forums. But in the midst of this campaign, senior Congress leaders are now creating uncomfortable situations for the party.

Salman Khurshid's controversial statement

The statement given by Congress leader and former Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid on Kashmir during a program in Indonesia was contrary to the party line. He stated that Article 370 had created a sense of separation between Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of India, and its abrogation was a necessary and justified move. He also said that today the democratic process has been restored in Kashmir and people are actively participating in elections.

Political upheaval in the party

Khurshid's statement has increased the difficulties of the Congress because the party had strongly opposed the removal of Article 370 in the year 2019. Later, the party remained silent on this issue and has not taken any clear stand till now. Senior party leaders have not yet commented on Khurshid's statement, but a state of resentment and confusion is being seen within.

Tharoor's statement was the first blow

Earlier, another senior Congress leader, Shashi Tharoor, while being a part of the all-party delegation, had said that for the first time during the tenure of the Modi government, India conducted a surgical strike across the Line of Control. This statement of Tharoor was also criticized internally in the party. Now Salman Khurshid's comment has further deepened that wound.

Congress still in a state of confusion on '370.'

Congress had earlier protested against Article 370 both in Parliament and on the streets. But considering the electoral and political equations, it softened its stand. Now voices are being raised from within the party to justify Article 370, which is raising questions about its policy and leadership.

Affecting the image of national unity

India's diplomacy is currently trying to isolate Pakistan on international forums, but when representatives of the opposition party Congress are giving statements deviating from the government line, it also affects the image of national unity. This controversy can become a big issue in the internal politics of Congress in the coming days.
